A brilliant camera obscura covers the walls of my sister’s childhood bedroom. Light, shadows, objects, and motion flow through arbitrary apertures from the streets surrounding my mother’s fifth-story walk-up in Taipei.
Me and my wife Chelsea stay in this room when we visit. My bedroom has been walk-in storage for a long time now. I spend uncounted minutes watching this magical phenomenon while memories overflow my mind. The memories are fragments, they come and go, like the cars and scooters that move across the walls, blurry, lack physical references, and disappear in a moment’s time.
