This self-portrait series explores my relationship with memory and the pivotal events that have shaped my identity. Each platinum palladium print presents the same portrait of myself, overlaid with different sections of a photograph of clouds and land taken from an airplane when I was 11 years old. That journey led me to a new land, the loss of my father, and a profound sense of isolation. It is difficult not to wonder how life might have unfolded differently, but such reflections are rarely productive. Instead, I regard those clouds as a threshold—a liminal space from which I have emerged. This series serves as both a celebration of that passage and a testament to resilience, while also embodying a forward-looking faith in what is to come.
